In 1886 in Yick Wo v Hopkins the Supreme Court stated that the right to vote is “preservative of all rights.” #HR4 is essential the very legitimacy of our democracy and to the right of racial and language minorities to having our voices heard.
In the Shelby County case the SCOTUS wrongly described Section 5 of the VRA as needlessly targeting southern states.That decision allowed voter suppression to metastisize across the country. #HR4 now creates a national preclearance formula for all jurisdictions that discriminate.
