In a choice between liberal democracy (definition and thread attached in the next tweets) and Putin's Russia, the far right wing will chose Putin.

If you're shocked, thinking "A U.S. Senator spreading Putin's propaganda! What?!" remember, Russia has been beckoning to the America's far right wing for years, presenting itself as the savior of the white race, & infiltrating the NRA.

Liberal democracy, defined as⤵️, terrifies the radical right, which prefers hierarchy.

Putin said democracy is "messy."
Hierarchy is more orderly.

Now that the Democratic Party stands for inclusiveness and minority communities, they're a direct threat to the paranoid right.
Good point: Fascism trades justice for order.

In the law, there’s a similar balance: A bright line rule that's easy to apply versus a flexible rule that can result in more justice.

Another appeal to fascism is that it's simple: Line up behind the leader.
Democracy is much harder. It requires compromise, and give and take.

"My way or the highway" is autocracy—but humans have a natural inclination toward "I'm right and that's the end of it" kind of thinking.
I think the "they're all compromised" theory gives people like Ted Cruz way too much credit.

It assumes that, if they were not being forced or blackmailed, they'd embrace liberal democracy.

Kompromat is their past willingness to work with Russia.
