completely blown away by the artistic aesthetic and how it has so many elements that ive been drawn to intuitively since the start of my whole artistic endeavor. its like seeing all the bits and pieces that ive been called to in other aesthetics cohesively integrated
for example, the way the artists engage with the picture plane. its like 2d and 3d at the same time, half drawn half painted, this is part of what drew me into tibetan art initially. all the figures are in this space that is both “real” with depth but also “flat” and symbolic
things are shaded so they have some dimensionality but you can see the strokes and how its shaded so your mind is still aware that its a constructed image that is trying to fool you into thinking its real. extreme level of detail, even the writing style is so on point.
