Pictured: a top reporter on American health care and a former top comms official at the Dept. of Health & Human Services, trying to figure out how to avoid surprise bills.

If experts like these can't "figure out [their] own health care," what the hell chance do most people have?
What I really, really wish more Democrats would set their fears about aside, and consider safe to try:

1) Keeping it simple; and

The only people who’ve “figured out” American health care are the ones — hospital networks, insurers, drug makers — operating at a scale that permits making stacks of money on it.
To “trust” people to figure their choices out — in a situation with deep asymmetries of both information and market power — is to toss them to the wolves.
