One of the articles of impeachment, abuse of power, charges that Trump leveraged the power of his office for his own personal gain. This is not the first time. It will not be the last. Thread of other times Trump has used the presidency for his own personal gain.

This was just 3 months ago but feels like forever. Military stays at the Trump golf resort in Scotland that also propped up a failing airport critical to the survival of Trump’s resort. /2 nytimes.com/2019/09/12/us/…
This one was ultimately foiled because of the press reporting and public backlash. Trump Doral wasn’t even on the list to host the G7 until Trump “suggested” it. nytimes.com/2019/10/20/us/…
There is the ongoing issue of the Trump DC hotel. And while Trump put the hotel into a trust, it is a trust controlled by his family. /3 npr.org/sections/thetw…
Mike Pence’s stay at Trump’s golf resort in Ireland wasted thousands of tax payer dollars in travel expenses to and from meetings in Dublin. /4 washingtonpost.com/politics/trump…
Trump benefitted greatly from his tax plan. We don’t know the details because we’ve only seen one return. But from the AMT to the estate tax to the pass-through rates, Trump couldn’t have written a better plan for himself. /5 newyorker.com/news/john-cass…
And when he’s not enriching himself personally, Trump is using the office to benefit his children. /6 nbcnews.com/politics/donal…
As we’ve seen with the Ukraine scandal. Not all Trump’s actions benefit him financially. There are also actions taken that benefit or avoid damage to him politically. Case in point, the IRS handling of his tax return audit. /7 washingtonpost.com/business/econo…
The President of the United States is a public servant. He is there to serve the American people. Not himself. The Ukraine scandal was not the first and won’t be the last time Trump abuses the power of his office for his benefit. /8
But it is perhaps, IMHO, the most egregious because it endangered both our national security as well as our free and fair elections. Voters shouldn’t have to monitor the president’s every move to determine if he is acting in the best interest of himself or the country. /9
We should trust that those who make the choice to serve this country are true to their word and their oath. That they are acting in the best interest of our country and not their political career or their bank account. /10 @RepAnnWagner @HawleyMO @RoyBlunt
