Don's FSD Challenge: A thread.
I'm quite proud of this work. It took a lot of effort to set up the framework and learn video editing and how YouTube works.

The result is this video grading the first run of a repeatable 100-mile FSD challenge loop.

The video is part of a playlist that allows you to see the entire run in real time, a condensed run that speeds up the boring stuff, the grading of the run, and an overview of the route.

Another playlist will capture key videos from all the runs I make as part of this challenge. It leads off with three videos describing the why and what of the challenge along with two videos of the 1st run.

It takes so much work to create these that I won't do the run for every version. For instance, 2019.40.2.1 greatly improves lane changes but it won't dramatically change what can be done in FSD. I'll highlight those changes in a future run, along with the traffic cones of 36.2.1 Image
I focused on creating a difficult but repeatable loop in which FSD functionality would be quite limited initially, thus allowing room to document improvement with new releases. I'm quite pleased with the outcome. Watch my video describing the route.

Run number 1 will serve as a baseline artifact. In a year or two, I hope to look back with nostalgia and reflect on how limited Tesla's FSD capabilities were at the time. You know: "Remember when FSD struggled to make lane changes." :-) Image
The route allows me to highlight areas where existing functionality like speed management needs to be much more intelligent. It would amazing if @elonmusk or @karpathy saw this segment that documents a significant weakness.

@elonmusk @karpathy Since I can't seem to post anything at a normal time, I'd appreciate some help in getting this thread some attention. Can u help @seanmmitchell, @dennis_p, @trytohelp, @bnkwupt, @ajbutler45, @pluginsites, @yanquetino, @ElectricJen, @EVAdoptionTweet, @DirtyTesla, @RaqWinchester ?

Show them this one first. Dad hasn't seen this yet either. Surprise him with it Tuesday.
