Good news on the death penalty in 2019 from our friends at @DPInfoCtr: The use of the death penalty is near historic lows.

32 states have either abolished the death penalty or haven't executed anyone in more than a decade.
This year’s death penalty report also reminds us that “every prisoner executed in 2019 had either a significant mental impairment, a serious innocence claim, or demonstrably faulty legal process.”

We remember Larry Swearingen and Domineque Ray with heavy hearts.
The death penalty does not punish "the worst of the worst." It punishes people who live in the wrong county and had the worst defense.

It should be repealed nationwide.
