Van Andel Research Institute to pay $5.5 million for violating the False Claims Act and failing to disclose that 2 of their researchers were also being funded by the CCP/#China under their Thousand Talents (IP, scientific research & trade secret theft) Program.
Van Andel Research Institute was aware that that those researchers were working for China & pretty much lied to the NIH about it.
Here is VARI's website. They do biomedical research.

They also put out a statement. They claim they didn't admit to anything in this settlement, yet the 2 researchers in question have since resigned.

Brandon Frere, the CEO of Sonoma County Ameritech Financial (a student loan debt repayment company) pleaded guilty to wire fraud and money laundering.

Frere also owned and operated two other companies:

- Financial Benefits Center (AFBC)

- Financial Education Benefits Center (FEBC)
He used all 3 companies to market student loan document preparation services for people applying for loans through the Dept of Ed.

He then preyed on them by also selling "financial education benefits programs," which turned out to be things like roadside assistance & Lifelock.

#China national Zoulin Cai AKA Allen Cai of California was arrested today & indicted for selling counterfeit laptop batteries & electronics via Amazon & Ebay.

Some of those batteries started smoking & almost caught fire. Reminds me of all those "hoverboards" that caught fire.
He was living in Los Angeles and worked for Chinese company Shenzhen Theseus Technology Co. Ltd. His relatives owned Theseus Technology, which actually made the counterfeit lithium ion batteries.
Cai and his family made $23.8 million selling the counterfeits from 2014 to 2019 and laundered the earnings to Chinese bank accounts in the name of Theseus Technology and other Chinese business which were unnamed.

For years, the Chinese held a dim view of India as a socially and economically backward land, and a stooge of Western imperialism which is no match to China. But India’s rise as an independent ‘leading power’ under Modi has compelled fullest attention in Beijing.
Ironically, if China needs Pakistan to keep India under check, India under Modi has played the card of cozying up to the US and Russia to keep China under check.

The legitimacy of the #CCP regime under Xi is based on the twin pillars of economic growth and nationalism. For the party-state, unifying the mainland and Taiwan is critical to its aspirations of national rejuvenation and erasure of national humiliation.
Why would PRC force a unification as early as 2021? 1) 2021 is the centenary of the #CCP; anniversaries and dates have massive symbolic importance in China's political culture. 2) Xi wants unification to be part of his legacy. This is the only way that he can outshine #Mao.
