THREAD on religion requirement for Bank KYC:

Under SOP specified in letter dated 29.12.11 (UPA Govt) ANY refugee cd apply for Long Term Visa (LTV), if granted open Bank A/c.
In 2015 MoSha Gov started LTV category 4 non-Muslims frm Af, Pak, B'desh. Hence religion column in KYC

Pl note that it took me 5 min to do this basic, quick fact-check. Why are Indian media houses not doing this, & instead running the GoI half-lie/half-truth that "No religion category for Indians in KYC"?
+ it's clear that since 2011, ANY refugees from neighbouring countries cd b granted Long Term Visas (LTVs), allowing them to obtain PAN card, Aadhaar card, driving licences, and even to buy property. Between 2011-2014, UPA granted LTVs to 14,726 (maj Hindus) frm Pakistan
Why CAA then, when refugees can already get LTVs? Coz CAA expedites VOTER status for Hindus from Af, Pak, B'desh! So it's all about vote banks. CAA distinguishes betw refugees on basis of religion for vote banks. @himantabiswa said CAA wd let BJP to retain 17 LS seats for 10 yrs
See min 0.26 onwards in this interview with @himantabiswa where he clearly says CAA will help BJP win seats in Assam for at least a decade coz it will allow non-Muslim immigrants to vote.
