CA Latinos from the GOP, but just as importantly, it set into motion grassroots activism and protests that would go on to form the state's next generation of political leadership and infrastructure. The reason a D won Jeff Flake's vacant senate seat in '18 & AZ has a good chance
breaking for Ds in 2020 is bc of similar backlash-this time to the effect of anger & isolation from AZ's harsh 2010 anti-immigration law & reign of terror Latino's lived under from Joe Arpaio, whose federal civil rights crimes were pardoned by Trump.
