One issue that Rizal & other Filipino church members faced was being blocked from entering #Jesuit & other #CatholicOrders. This blocked access to many careers in church & gov. The Orders administered civil gov via #Peninusulares born in Spain. Rizal rejected the Mestizo label.
Labeling #Rizal #Mestizo identified him with the #Peninsulares & elite descendants of Spanish patrones. #JoseRisal identified himself as a native- actually numerous cultures. He studied pre-European languages & cultures to reach heart of those early people- Malayo-Island culture
#JoseRizal excelled in European languages, scientific, literary & other pursuits. The idea of a #NativeFilipino excelling in the Spanish academic world was inconceivable to his persecutors unless #Rizal was #Mestizo. He stood before a firing squad refusing a blindfold.

Yesterday commemorated Jose Rizal’s vision for #PhilippineSovereignty. I am asking all our followers to RT these messages. Rizal was a Patriot executed by Spain for speaking out for Filipino freedom. He was a European educated writer, thinker & leader of the Revolution.
#Rizal identified with the people & sought for the identity of the original Philippine people. His vision helped forge a nation. But U.N., U.S. & NGOs still treat Philippines like a colony.
It is like the #OpiumWars in China. British & other Europeans forced China to grow Opium & allow its people to consume it. Addiction & corruption destroy national character. Chinese rose up; killed for resisting enslavement to opiates. Now Western agencies doing it again!

I am watching a documentary about the coordinated #ParisTerrorAttacks. There are several young men going into excruciating details about how helpless they felt and all their other emotional observations often describing what they experienced while their eyes were closed.
Some state that their minds went blank and they were resigned to die- while lying down with their eyes closed.

I hate to say that American Christians are often like this regarding what is happening to our institutions, government, academic, even churches.
We love to have exquisite discussions about works & Grace, whether or not storing food & carrying a gun shows trust in God. Even wringing our hands about whether our President is born again.

Enuf! Being saved is not just going to Heaven.

Just read all 108 pages of the Ramparts Report. The frightening picture the investigation conjures up depends on seeing Patriots as paranoid crazies who believe in conspiracy theories with Rep. Shea drawing political power from by intimidation & paranoia. #FoundingFathers
The Founders repeatedly warned about a potential for federal tyranny & resolved the controversy about whether to maintain a standing army by guaranteeing the right to bear arms. Bearing arms means the right to show up & put the government on notice that the People have teeth.
The fact that elected Representatives helped direct 3 different protests prevented bloodshed. Whether or not the Bundy family & other ranchers had solid legal cases, armed protests are not criminal. Black Panthers appeared armed in Sacramento & Olympia without violating laws.

Many dems have fallen for the #opioidcrisis. I know why you would. Unfortunately, few know the real facts & statistics. I know they want you to believe prescription pain pills caused pp to turn to heroin but the facts & stats do not support that. Addiction rates have not gone up.
In fact, they have stayed the same from 2007-2017 re: NIH. I want to speak about this to fellow #resisters b/c I see so many falling for the lies of the CDC & politicians, w/grave & dangerous harm & even death to Americans as a result of this perpetuated ongoing lie & propaganda.
First, they speak of opioids as one collective pot & all the same when there are innumerable differences in what pp are actually ODing on. Heroin is spoke & declared as an equal to vicodin or percocet. Illegal China tainted fentanyl is also declared an equal to a pain pill opioid

IPCC is unambiguous on the need for “negative emissions” - it’s not just hidden in models anymore
(I told y’all this in 2005 😜)
The IPCC endorsement of this need will potentially open up new fault lines in the political debate over climate ...
One issue is R&D + demonstration of technologies (eg, AF, BECCS, DAC, CCS etc) for negative emissions
Will countries be willing to invest what are likely to be substantial public resources toward this end?
Such commitments will be a real-world litmus test of political seriousness
Another issue as follows:

NER= needed emissions reductions
MCEIS= must change everything in society
NE= negative emissions

NER= MCEIS + NE

I can guarantee there will be those who accept need for emissions reductions but argue for (some already have):

Using NE to avoid MCEIS

3/ The ALA’s Core Values of Librarianship state that "all information...should be readily, equally, & equitably accessible to all library users." Likewise IFLA pinpoints Access to Information as the core mission of librarians & other information workers.

The #AugarReview is out today. I haven’t finished reading it, but here are some first impressions.

There’s much to praise. It’s measured and well argued, but ultimately it won’t solve the problem of post-18 education funding.

The return of maintenance grants is the biggest positive, intended to end inquity of the poorest students graduating with the highest debts. #AugarReview
The reduction of fees to £7.5k is not enough to achieve anything positive for students. Anyone put off by £9,250 isn’t going to see it as a bargain and it will benefit only the graduates who earn most and won’t repay for as long #AugarReview

This was a case of a “Lone Star” Republican congressman placing his deeply-held principles above political expediency. His opposition derailed the “fast track” approval for the legislation. The next “pro forma” vote may take place next week at the earliest
According to Roy, “I’m here today primarily because if I do not object, Congress will have passed into law a bill that spends $19 billion of taxpayer money without members of Congress being present in our nation’s capital to vote on it.”

Many don't seem to understand why I object to @Telegram having unsafe, censorable public channels in an app that is promoted as a secure messenger. Some presumed I just don't understand how channels work. So let's talk about it:
Background: @Telegram has a special position in Iran. Its "public channels" are an important source of news for many low-tech users. Competing services are often blocked, but Telegram makes concessions to avoid this (like setting up local CDNs iranhumanrights.org/2017/07/telegr… ).
This is both a good and bad thing. On one hand, keeping people who don't understand and will never learn what Tor and VPNs connected to a big and difficult-to-moderate communications ecosystem is valuable, when the government largely has but two moves: "block" or "not block."
