Oh shit yes, first @awscloud announcement of the year! You can now secure AWS Elemental MediaPackage Live endpoints using CDN Authorization. As promised, a thread:

@awscloud ...well f*ck. I don't use AWS Elemental at all, much less its subservices.

Let's see here.
Apparently you can now require a HTTP origin header and authorization code. This only works for live workflows, not Video on Demand.
It requires Secrets Manager, so there's how it makes its money.
That said, it does *not* appear to require CloudFront. @cloudflare and many others rejoice.
And so 2020 begins. Not with a bang, nor even a whimper, but rather a confused mumble.
