I wrote a thread on it - the much bigger concern was Iran’s co-opt in Iraq.

... and even wrote about the concerns with the Iraqi Militias (acting as Iranian Proxy).

It may technically cover portions of Iran, but not much.
But in terms of the Fertile Crescent... the earliest known civilization was the Natufians of the Levant.
