PS/ I guess this is my way of saying that so many words and phrases we use today in what passes for political discourse in America and pretend have some kind of meaning actually mean nothing at all besides "I disagree with you and don't like what you say and maybe don't like you"
PS2/ Incidentally, I can totally see the argument that that kid got a raw deal, I think what I'm saying is he didn't get *$800 million of a raw deal*, and anyone who thinks he got even 1% of that figure of a raw deal has some "snowflake" tendencies they need to really think about

Folks, we can hear what the GOP is saying, or pretend to be surprised later. There will be no witnesses.
@RealClearNews THUS: There's zero—and I repeat *zero*—reason to rush the articles to the Senate. All that's doing is rushing toward a pointless sham trial. On the other hand, the benefits and tactical/strategic reasons to hold the articles to keep investigating and litigating are—well—*legion*.

1⃣ More time to investigate.
2⃣ More time to litigate.
3⃣ More time for media to investigate/report.
4⃣ New evidence can emerge.
5⃣ New witnesses can emerge.

NOTE: Every American needs to remember that just three weeks ago, Mitch McConnell said he was "fine" with not getting the articles, and *less than a week ago* he said he "couldn't start a trial" without the articles. This is about Donald Trump being frantic and terrified, period.
FURTHER: Articles of impeachment can't be dismissed before they're transmitted. Mind you, for as long as the GOP is in power McConnell certainly *can* keep the Senate from having a trial on the articles by a vote like this. But if the Democrats take the Senate, a trial can occur.
THUS: As a matter of law, journalists should be covering this rule change as a vote to never consider the most serious allegations ever made against a U.S. president unless or until the party he doesn't belong to controls the Senate. But this is *not* a dismissal of the articles.

My favorite thing to learn is things that teach you about something you thought you already knew.
Like, binary. Binary isn't too hard to learn. Each digit is a 0 or a 1, and you start with it telling you if you have any 1s, then any 2s, any 4s, etc.
So to write a number like "12", you figure out if it has any 8s (yes), any 4s (yes), any 2s (no), and any 1s (no)
so that's 1100
and you do this by making columns that go up by factors of 2, right? and they're right-aligned, so it looks like:
16 8 4 2 1

People keep talking about how much stuff a billionaire could buy even after Warren's wealth tax, as if that were the greatest horror of that number.
"Tax the rich and they can still buy islands!" Yes, that's horrifying. But my friends and I have been calculating the "okay, that's it, I'm done" number for years. That's the amount of money in the bank where you can live deliciously without ever touching the principle.
Everything is done via the interest. Our numbers assume no investments, no money management; just a savings account with a decent interest rate, calculated monthly.
