BREAK: Trump calls on Britain and other EU allies to ditch the Iran nuclear deal. Significant.
Clear now the US president is leaning into Iran stand-off to force the hand of UK and others to scrap nuclear deal. Big test for Boris.
UK position on Iran nuclear deal has been subtly changing in the last 12 months, from 'it must be kept' to 'we should start thinking about what comes next'. Trump now trying to force a final decision.
This was Boris in Sep 2019

“The reality is, as President Trump rightly said, it was a bad deal. It had many defects. ..."

“If it was a bad deal – and I’m willing to accept that, it had many, many defects – then let’s do a better deal."

V different from his 2018 position
The qu now facing Boris...

Keep Iran deal, frustrating Trump but gambling a Democrat wins in Nov and switches US stance.

Or ditch deal, arguing it’s effectively dead anyway and push for new agreement (but no obvious pathway)
