I encountered some genuine concerns about #CAA_NRC_NPR in many people's minds.

In a way misinformation spreads fast and in very lethal way, but I am certain that Government could not clarify the whole exercise in crystal clear manner, with unanimity and solidarity.

As I am reading, researching, watching from quite a while now, Explaining the actual scenario verbally or personally to a mass of people is not possible to me at this point, so taking this SM route to spread awareness.

I will link some govt sources here to avoid over explaining

Lets have step by step knowledge about these things. Lets start with #NPR as it is smaller and very straightforward thing!

Pure misinformation led #NPR getting connected with #CAA_NRC. It should be looked as a joint exercise with Census.

N P R - National Population Register

It is just a SLAM BOOK of everyone who is living in India.The person may or may not be Indian citizen.

Designated Govt employee will come to house to ask information about persons living there, he may ask for some documents.

To show documents and to give information is NOT COMPULSORY.

This information is aggregated to form a National Population Register.

This NPR is then used to get information for ongoing and upcoming development and social welfare schemes of government

If this information furnished is inadequate or incorrect, it may lead to ommit thet person from the respective welfare schemes.

What we shall do -
1. Provide correct details about our family
2. Provide as much info as we can to avail more benefit from govt schemes
3. If anyone denies to provide info, try telling person that, for next 10 yrs or so, upto next NPR, the person may not get benefits of schemes

C A A - Citizenship Amendment Act 2019

To understand CAA we must know that how a person can be an Indian citizen

Everyone knows the basic rules such that by birth, by parents etc

Besides that any Non-Indian person can apply fon Indian citizenship by proper means subject to ~

~ various rules and regulations (including proper documents, prolong civilised stay in India and so on!)

But this procedure takes time and applies to the people who have came or will be coming to India through legal ways only (refugee, migrants, Long Term Visa Holders, etc)

So what CAA does -

It just fast tracks and gives right to only the religious persecuted minorities from neighbouring 3 religion based countries to be Indian citizen only if they have come to India before 31st December 2014.

Other citizenship rules I described above are as it is and people other than beneficiaries of CAA can be Indian Citizen if they go through due procedure.

N R C - National Ragister of Citizens

It will be a Nationwide Register of ONLY CITIZENS OF INDIA.

As on today, there is no official talk on NRC in Cabinet or on any govt platform.

It is being proposed from quite some time now.

Already Assam has got its own NRC for State.

Its on the floor of debate because it looks that Union Home Minister has taken it on his agenda to implement it in near future.

If India decides to implement it, every person living in India will have to furnish required documents to prove that he/she/it is citizen of India.

Failing so, the person may be kept in detention camps and eventually deported to respective country the person belongs to!

This is very lengthy process & if any person leaves out of it can challenge in Courts of law & in Foreign Tribunals.

The rules & cutoff date are very ~

~ important in such an exercise & will be clarified once its bill gets tabled in parliament.

It is untrue that if one doesn't have documents then he/she/it will be directly sent to detention camps, since there are various other procedural, humanitarian and legal remedies to that

What we should do now-

1. Try to gather as much documents as we can that can prove our Citizenship
2. Everyone will have to do that, so be prepared & take proper info from govt sources, dont believe on rumours, dont spread anything without verifying it from a trusted source.
