funny thing about trying to accumulate status, and succeeding, is that you then retrospectively develop a pretty good idea on how you could artificially ~simulate~ status in a way that is convincing – but by the time you get there that's not worth your time/effort
more simply: when you become an adult, it becomes clearer how you could've been cooler as a teenager, but by then that information isn't very useful or actionable
once you make it, it becomes easy to fake it
