So let me provide context to #JoeVotedForTheWar

I was a successful musician in the 90s. Politics was the furthest from my mind. But when Bush was selected, I felt compelled to move into political activism.

I dedicated myself to fighting Bush-Cheney-Rove-Rumsfeld...
I was an early adopter of online politics. I made lifelong friends during those netroots days, a number of whom work on #Bernie's campaign today.

This is the fact: Many Dem leaders were afraid to stand up to Bush because they thought they'd look 'weak' on national security...
Technically, the AUMF vote wasn't a "vote for war" in the strictest definition, but Dems who voted for it knew exactly what it meant: Bush was being given the power to wage war.

So yes, Biden did vote for war. And I say this as someone who worked for John Kerry.

ON #WARREN'S LOW BLOW

Since this will come up at the #DemDebate, I want to explain her attack on #Bernie.

When CNN leaked the story, Warren could have said: "We're friends and he was referring to the challenges women candidates face. I won't grace these leaks."

Instead...
...Warren's campaign put out a statement that effectively calls #Bernie sexist and then claims to want to move on.

The net effect is to try to damage the leading progressive in the race, which gives a big boost to the establishment wing.

Now why on earth would she do that?
People who follow me know how dedicated I am to fighting sexism. It was everything I did in 2016 and I was mocked and smeared for it when I defended Hillary.

But this isn't about sexism. It's about the incredibly questionable timing of lobbing this out there as #Bernie surges.

Wow.

I'm deeply disappointed in #ElizabethWarren, someone I've praised repeatedly during this election.

Doing this as #Bernie surges weeks before Iowa doesn't feel right.
Let me expand:

I respect and like #Warren and have said nothing but positive things about her campaign.

Whatever conversation she and #Bernie had, my issue is with the timing. I've done politics for 20 years, including two presidentials, and I recognize a low blow.
And one last point: Anyone who knows my career and my work with Hillary knows how hard I've fought sexism in politics.

This isn't about the conversation they had, it's about the timing of releasing it, which is clearly designed to damage #Bernie.

Who does that help??

I admire and respect #ElizabethWarren

I admire and respect #BernieSanders

I think #Bernie's bold call for a political revolution is the ONLY approach to the danger we face from an emboldened right and a meek Dem establishment.

Things will get more intense...
As the intensity and negativity ratchets up, which it inevitably will, let's remember that Warren and Sanders supporters have a tremendous amount in common.

We're allies and friends in this existential fight for our progressive values.

I'll be honest: I tweeted this not having seen the CNN story about Warren and #Bernie.

Which makes my point even more salient: supporters of both candidates have so much in common. Let's be unified in 2020.

Bottom line: I believe #Bernie is our best candidate to take on Trump.

Watching a lot of people flip out at @BrianNiemeier without understanding the issues involved.

Here's the skinny.

1. Brian is known for a controversial test when people act like pundits on what Christianity is or isn't. He asks them to publicly confess faith in Christ.
@BrianNiemeier 2. This is to see if they have skin in the game, because there have been, over the last few hundred years especially, a LOT of bad-faith attempts to redefine or redirect Christianity to serve someone's immediate political goals.
@BrianNiemeier 3. The controversy: the term he uses when he informs someone that he has no desire to continue discussing his faith with someone who comes in bad faith is "witch."

Outside of rural Africa or Indonesia, where you can still be killed for it, "witch" is not really pejorative now.

I spoke to 5 CEOs who have hired General Counsels or set up a legal team to learn about their experiences.
What they said was markedly different than usually what the in-house counsels have to say.

Since it is often a CEO or CFO who decides who to hire as a General Counsel or Legal Head, I think this advice would be pretty important!

Smart. By working outside of a coalition he can use the different parties to pass the different parts of his agenda. If he wants to do climate action he can work with NDP/Greens/Bloc. If he wants to build pipelines the CPC should be willing to help. /1
If he wants to provide federal funding for $7/day daycare maybe he'll get some Bloc and NDP support.

That being said, I think it's highly unlikely the parties that SHOULD support his policies will because #Politics. But avoiding a coalition does give him more freedom /2
to push the legislation that the center-right Liberal Party of Canada believes in.

Because of the size of his minority, he will be able to pass legislation with ANY one of the 2nd-4th place parties so long as he keeps his caucus together. This differs from past minority /3
