THREAD: Last couple of days to comment on the #primarycarenetworks services specs. Lots of feedback to date that tells us we need to make changes. We are committed to doing just that @NikkiKF @NHSEngland. You can help us with feedback: engage.england.nhs.uk/survey/primary… 1/9
There are some really important points about this work:

These are draft and this is a proper, comprehensive and dynamic engagement exercise, being conducted "at scale". The feedback that we get will influence the final versions that we negotiate. 2/9
We cannot afford to make them over-ambitious: we would like PCNs to welcome the final versions as sensible expressions of ambition. CDs and #generalpractice teams should feel the final versions are deliverable and that they are aimed at the right areas 3/9
Equally we cannot afford to make them under-ambitious: the £4.5bn going into primary and community care in the #nhslongtermplan should create room to do more and these specs reflect part of that ambition 4/9
So where do we go from here? The feedback that we have had so far is really helpful - the strength of feeling and the specifics on the content - both of which we need to take seriously. 5/9
If you think we need to change them or re-think then it would be great if feedback could distinguish between:

WRONG FOCUS: we shouldn't be tackling this area. If so, what should we be focusing on?

6/9
WRONG TIMING: the right thing to do but PCNs not ready. If so, what would be a sensible timescale?

WRONG DESIGN: principles / design of the specs not right e.g. level of prescriptiveness, lack of local flexibility, inputs vs outcome measures, etc.

7/9
Or you may feel that elements are RIGHT: in which case we would be delighted to hear that as well😀

Thank you for taking time with these. The final versions will draw on the rich feedback that we receive (this process has already started).
8/9
And finally I'm excited about being part of an engagement process like this. It is the first time we have been able to do this so extensively and dynamically. This presents challenges but allows us to get rapid access to intelligence and mood - which is invaluable. Thank you! 9/9
