Influencer marketing isn’t bad.
Many people are just bad at
influencer marketing.

This piece is ridiculous. Sharing a few examples of bad influencer plays doesn’t disprove anything.
2/ the good old “fake followers” argument.

Any media buyer or strategist with half a brain knows how to qualify an influencer audit and/or check their previous brand partnership success.

We’re not playing pin the tail on the influencer & randomly giving $ without vetting.
3/ agreed! No vanity metrics!

Now, if there was only a digital tactic that works at every phase of the marketing funnel, and sometimes even full funnel... where one source has access to an entire audience they could INFLUENCE towards a brand...
4/ oh, I get it. We’re just not good enough at our jobs. That’s why we ~waste money on influencers~, because we need someone else to “pass it off as authentic.”

An absurd one-liner to end an absurd article that we’ll now have to refute to clients because it was on AdAge.
