So to be clear: what the Senate will be voting on is whether or not the President can be a criminal and a dictator.

We're going to watch Senate Republicans vote to no longer be a co-equal branch of government, but rather a bunch of money launderers for a mob boss.

To be clear: Republicans will enshrine—by vote—what we've known, which is that they have never cared about, nor have they ever cared about, any of the values they claim: not constitutionality, not national security, not fiscal accountability, nor deficits, nor morality.

It has only ever been about domination in service of theft—that, and nothing else.

They aren't being hypocrites. They have one value, and one only, which is: I do it to you because I can.

Or, if you like: The weak are meat the strong do eat.

They're very consistent to it.

We know what they are, beyond any shadow of a doubt. And soon, most of them or all of them will prove it by a vote.

So now we know. The question is: who cares?

It's a literal question. Literally: who?

Thieves don't want more thieves. They just want people willing to not care.

There are going to be a lot of people who simply want to find a reason to not care. They'll find it. Watch.

And I know why a lot of people want to find a reason to not care. There are people who still benefit—at least for now—from the present system.

I'm one of them.

I'm professionally employable, for example. What else?

Able-bodied, for example. Healthy.

Not subject to enough systemic bigotry to have to be uncomfortable yet—yet.

Eventually the thieves will empty the current safe, though. They'll look for another. And another. And Republicans intend to vote for a dictator's right to loot safes.

So step one is to care.

For many of you, caring isn't a choice—it's literally survival now.

For many of us, caring IS a choice, and on behalf of the former group, how dare we give in to the temptation to not care because (we think) it's not our safe being cracked yet—yet.

Step two is take what action you can. It won't seem like much. But just do it.

Make your voice heard. Pick up a phone. Knock on doors. Tell some people who have decided not to care why you care, and why you care that they don't care.

It's not much, maybe. A drop in the ocean.

Step 3 is to keep caring. Keep fighting. Keep pushing. Vote every time, and in such numbers that even their attempts to demolish the apparatus of elections is insufficient to their intent.

Step 4 is to do that every election until the whole party is only a historical footnote.

Add your drop to the ocean. Turn the ocean into a wave. Crash that wave over that bloody party of liars and cheats, bigoted supremacists and kleptocrats, until all that is left of their power is rubble, then leave the rubble as monument to the fate of attempted tyrants
