As someone who is a historian, in part, because I was 8 during the bicentennial in 1976, I was interested to see who was involved with organizing the Semiquincentennial in 2026. It's...well...not ideal.
Here's the official list that was made up in 2017. There is only one formally trained historian on the list (from what I can tell). He's a good historian, and also an outspoken conservative. historycoalition.org/wp-content/upl…
Any time a nation tries to tell a celebratory story about itself it'll be less than rigorously honest. This was the case with the book most associated with the 1976 bicentennial.
