Today, on MLK day, thousands of white guys dressed up and armed themselves like they're on patrol in Iraq or Afghanistan, only they're in Richmond, Virginia. Most of them support the President who claims he wants to bring all of our soldiers home, so they can do this?
The images from today's rally should make it clear what gun rights mean to these folks. These are not people armed to defend themselves against a home invader. These are people who are drilling for armed combat, in their own country.
Just to fully spell out the logic here...training for armed combat in your own country means that you are preparing for the time when you will have to shoot at your fellow citizens, including people legally authorized to enforce the laws.
None of this gear these folks are wearing is cheap--not the guns, not the camo gear, not the helmets. The training such folks do on their own time is time they choose to spend not hunting, not fishing, not watching sports, not going to church, not hanging out with their families.
Hobbies are cool. Some people collect stamps. Some people pickle and can. Some people do woodwork. Some people train for a marathon. Some people paint. Some people play music. Some people buy weapons of war and train for the day when they'll use them on their neighbors.
