Harry always wanted out. Meghan was the wrong choice on every level. He wouldn't listen to anyone. They owe the longsuffering UK public but will slip away like the Duke of Windsor did.

(4) Honestly, I'm relieved. Harry and his Clinton-Obama appointee SJW c-grade actress can f*&k off to whatever country will have them, and we shall carry on as before.

Better than before, since we won't have their whiny griftting asses dragging us down.

He fought in the Pacific during WWI, as a Royal Navy officer.

Country, duty and family before self. That's what my Queen and her Prince stand for.

(1) None of this is a problem for families who parent their children well, by educating them about what to expect in the online world, and properly supervising their internet use.

It's a learning opportunity, not the next cause for mass moral panic.
(2) Besides, as soon as the internet could handle the file size of a photo, ie early 1990s, people of all ages were accessing online porn. So, these "boys" you speak of are now men, and the sky has not fallen as a result of their porn use.

Credit people with some intellect.
(3) I say to teenage girls that if the boy you like has a bad attitude about girls because of online porn; find someone else.

Let the market sort it out.

(2) As tempting as it is to blame this "abdication crisis" on Meghan Markle & her associates, I can provide a longer term view; of Harry's entire life, & those of his parents & wider family.

Both Meghan & Harry are responsible for this mess.
(3) IMHO the most accurate & useful commentaries on it so far have come from longtime royal watchers. Those who live in the UK or a commonwealth realm like CAN, AU or NZ, are more in touch with British culture & society.

We love the USA but we don't do things the same way.

(1) Thread: The Palace wasn't caught off guard by Meghan and Harry's announcement today.

The royal firm has always known this would happen. It's initial response is about how the decision is being implemented - poorly.

All is well with my Queen and her loyal successors:

There's a lot of evidence to support my claim, & the predictions I've been making for at least 10 years about Harry Mountbatten-Windsor.

The only surprise to me is how strong the firm is, & it's a pleasant surprise.
(3) If you care about the people of the UK, the Commonwealth, and the US, you can thank heavens for the birth of these three adorable children. Their presence protects us from the chance of their uncle succeeding the throne.

The firm doesn't need Harry. He needed the firm.

I’m not convinced by the arguments I’ve seen by @JonHaidt and @glukianoff but decided I’d take a *listen* to the Coddling of the American Mind (only way to consume books with a 6 month old!). Following my enjoyment of @wgervais’ thread on ‘Sense and Nonsense’ gonna follow suit.
Might not work as well in audio format (no screenshots of the holy relic of printed text) but let’s see. For reference thanks to excessive podcasting and a general lack of free time I’m now listening to things at 1.8-2X speed. (Makes everyone sound stoned at normal speed.)
Introduction: Trip to Greece to visit a guru in a cave sounded very weird/suspicious, which makes perfect sense given that is (spoiler) just a parable to illustrate three modern and supposedly popular problematic axioms. Side note: Haidt is a decent voice actor.
