(1) Thread: What is going on with Prince Harry?

(Background: Read my thread from two days ago here:)

(2) As tempting as it is to blame this "abdication crisis" on Meghan Markle & her associates, I can provide a longer term view; of Harry's entire life, & those of his parents & wider family.

Both Meghan & Harry are responsible for this mess.
(3) IMHO the most accurate & useful commentaries on it so far have come from longtime royal watchers. Those who live in the UK or a commonwealth realm like CAN, AU or NZ, are more in touch with British culture & society.

We love the USA but we don't do things the same way.
(4) Harry's biographer Penny Junor's wrote an opinion piece that is spot-on. She is far more sympathetic to Harry than me, but identified important points. I strongly believe he has PTSD from the death of his mother & has never had effective treatment.

(5) Some may remember that Penny Junor was on Team Charles in the War of the Waleses, when many on that side talked about Diana's mental health issues.

They were right. She, by her own admission, suffered from bulimia nervosa. As people typically do, she blamed others for it.
(6) Diana tried to weaponize her vulnerability, in public and in private. William and Harry are adult children of a parent with a mental illness. Sadly, one is living well in spite of that rocky start; the other is not.

Being 15 vs 12 at the time of her death isn't the reason.
(7) Most members of the British royal family lead normal lives in spite of spending their critical early development years in a less than satisfactory home situation.

William & Kate are doing extremely well with their children, who appear at all times confident & content.
(8) This is a family with the same problems mine, & possibly yours, have. An aunt & the sister of the Queen married a domestic abuser. One uncle was a problem drinker, another a philanderer & drug user (1930s). Then there was the one who literally abdicated from the throne.
(9) Harry is easily led. Meghan told him what he wanted to hear. The extent to which that was rehearsed, strategic & deliberate vs just the way she is, remains to be seen. History will tell the story, like it eventually did regarding the Duke & Duchess of Windsor.
(10) Children who spend the first 3 years of life with weak &/or chaotic bonding with at least one primary caregiver usually spend the rest of their life struggling with the consequences of that.

Perhaps in 1982-3 Diana (& Charles) did a better job than they did in 1984-5?
(11) There is always, too, an element of nature vs nurture. Genes can lean a child toward anxiety or away from it.

I know PTSD inside out. To live well in spite of it you have to grab life with both hands. You have to take charge of your mind. Or someone else will.
(12) PTSD makes your default mode anxiety & fear. You can go from 0 to panic, or from 0 to rage, in no time at all.

It takes guts, and therapy to overcome that. My sense of Harry's current emotional operating level is: early teenage.

"Bulletproof" and short-sighted.
(13) His fall from grace isn't due to the peculiar family life of the royal family or the British aristocracy.

It's due to the intergenerational cycle of emotional dysregulation that is passed from parent to child until someone breaks the cycle. William has done it.
(14) As bachelors, both were looking for the calm, functional home life they should've had as kids.

William found it among the Middletons. Until recently I criticized them a lot, but now I see their value.

Harry found perhaps the most dysfunctional family outside his own.
(15) William's nearly 20-year involvement with the Middleton family has transformed him into a man ready to be Prince of Wales & then King when his time comes.

It's too late for Harry, with the British public & the Commonwealth. He's blown it.
(16) I predict Harry will make a fortune & prob reveal far more about his family than he should. He'll remain bitter to the end, like his great great uncle the Duke of Windsor did.

Diana's issues continued in Harry, & Archie will later follow unless he digs out of the hole.
(17) Some more opinion pieces by British commentators.

Eamonn Holmes is very popular and well respected atm.

Piers Morgan is too, judging by the landslide Conservative party election win last month.

(19) A psychologist echoes what I've said about it:

(20) And here is veteran commentator Richard Littlejohn referencing what I remember him saying 28 years ago:

(21) Choosing this moment, when the 93yo Queen is at the peak of her popularity in the UK, to not even forewarn her about a bombshell statement, is the most stupid thing Harry has ever done.

We will never forgive him or Meghan. And many might otherwise have done so.

END
(22) More evidence from people well qualified to assess this situation:

(23) One silver lining is the chance to educate on the signs of #NarcissisticAbuse.

We face an epidemic of this atm. Society stopped being tough on crime & narcs exploit that.

(24) ICYMI, this is publicity shot from Deal Or No Deal, where she got her big break.

Harry, you made a massive mistake. You were never the brightest of the bunch.
(25) Some of the senior officials advising the British royal family are likely deep state plants. They couldn't stop Brexit so they are trying to undermine the very glue that holds the country together. This too will fail.

From August 2019:

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7…
(26) Well, I'm glad this initial royal family meeting is over but for me there is nothing new in the Queen's statement.

At least the kid has had to face the three people with the duty of managing the fallout. I hope that was painful.
(27) The mood in the UK is of backlash against the false accusations of racism that have been a slur on the whole country and the other realms (eg AU, NZ).

We are sick to the back teeth of these two whinging trust fund kids.

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7…
(28) Delaware, of course! Just like the Clintons.

I predict that if HM wants to let Meghan & Harry Markle keep their royal titles, the govt will step in on behalf of public opinion.

Call their bluff. What's the worst they could do? Not much, now.

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7…
(29) This is the trans-Atlantic leftist swamp trying to save itself & we know how that has been working out, right?

The People have spoken - in both the US & UK - & the more the swamp tries to enslave us, the more we fight back.

This is a political not a family issue.
