Solar Midwinter begins on the Winter Solstice and the times that follow, until Spring Equinox, are the beginning of an Ascending cycle. Though it contains some of the coldest/darkest times of the year it is a time favorable to the beginning of endeavors. (cont.)
The world of the cycle-to-come seems to take shape at this time. In particular, the Oneiric (dream) plane seems particularly 'active' at this time, with new and turbulent images taking shape symbolically, which then to come to pass in the waking world in moar prosaic form.
And often, the meaning of images seen on the dream/Oneiric plane are not properly understood till much later. Yet many of the clearest ones seem to signify something of importance and so one has to think back and take stock from time to time, if one can remember the images.
Recall that Friedrich Nietzsche in one of his earlier works described the world of dreams as an Apollonian realm of existence from which emerged images of truth that were not tainted by the biases of waking awareness, due to the detached nature of the dream state.
He also noted that prior to the advent of Tragedy (a Dionysiac innovation) that the world of the ancient Poiesie was mostly Apollonian (e.g. Homer) and its vivid character mirrored in waking hours the images of truth that were to be found in the dreaming consciousness otherwise.
The Hellenes felt that dream divination 'worked' because the images there when properly understood were simply predecessor components of the world of Becoming. And it's my observation that this time of year is most suited to new and also definitive (for the cycle) images...
This is why I do not simply ignore those dreams I may be having at this time of year. They may be quite useful or informative before long. I think the images can also concern anything from great events out of your control, to things of note only to your life.
