They hired employees of the security vendor to replace CCTV cameras in the embassy with those that recorded audio too! Using the embassies security equipment to spy on Assange, his lawyers & visitors. 
Not just the equipment but the personnel. They photographed passports of his visitors, disassembled their phones, stole content off their iPads, & wrote up reports on each visitor.
Seems Assange didn't have any visitors from Russia even though the team was instructed to look for them!

Every 15 days the data was extracted from the embassy & taken to the security company in Spain. From there Morales would fly the data to the US to hand the recordings over to his handlers.
Of course, the article contradicts that saying he was putting it on servers where it could be accessed from anywhere. Wonder if maybe that server was a honeytrap?
This is interesting, they're implying that Morales was communicating from the IP address for the US Attorney's office in Northern Virginia where Dana Boente was running the investigation of Assange. But he was at DOJ main Acting DAG at the time & Acting AG for 2016 election cases
More interesting is the claim that the evidence was being passed through Sheldon Adelson of the Las Vegas Sands Corp. a Trump donor.

On 12/10/17, as the coup was unraveling with revelations about Strzok, Page & Ohr. Morales from a Sands hotel in Vegas emailed his team to restrict Ecuadorian access to the video servers so they could not figure out that someone in the US had access.
