In a taxi in Japan and just saw Vegeta advertising a company which designs office cubicles and floor plans, if you were interested in what Dragonball Z kids are doing these days.
I wonder how many cultural artifacts will try to continually be for the present analogue of their original audience and how many are just going to follow their cohort through life.
You could certainly imagine a future where Elsa is consoling Anna about the kids going off on their own adventures, right.

Note in particular being organized, treating it as a sales pipeline, pursuing multiple offers in parallel, and practicing for interviews.
(Suffice it to say that I am astronomical units away from believing the tech industry has a rationally constructed process for attracting, evaluating, and closing candidates, but given that the equilibrium is where it is, this is—descriptively—how to play game well.)
As I think about this more I almost want to provide an annotated version to show what is (probably) happening on the other side of the table which explains some of the candidate's experience.

This is extremely true of companies and teams, and an underappreciated area of endeavor is setting the ambient resting state level of productivity high.

Most organizations do not, for a host of reasons.
These include:

* productivity is hard to measure
* there are easier-to-measure proxies, like hours or “appearance of activity”, which crowd out better goals / aspirations
* some people and organizational cultures, for that or other reasons, become hostile to productivity
I feel like “Some people will actively sabotage productivity” sounds like a horrible rumor and/or an excuse from a failed organizing principle like communism.

If the existence of the boogeyman seems on face implausible, consider you may have been in extremely successful orgs.

You can also watch a lot of developers “spend thousands in a vain attempt to save hundreds” just by putting a usage-based price tag on something.

(It doesn’t even have to be denominated in money; we’ll golf any available metric.)
I remember vividly a conversation with @tqbf when I was at his office regarding optimizations I could make to Redis to prevent me from having to go up to a 1 GB VPS.

“How much does it cost extra?”
“$10 a month.”
“Then why are we having this conversation?”
In addition to being reflexive nosetweaking, I’ll point out that this is a reason to avoid usage-based pricing for developer-oriented tools and, instead, orient pricing around proxies for sophistication.
