This is awful, if true. A state should respect the rights of its citizens in all cases, not put life-and-death decisions about those citizens to a public referendum on social media.

What’s next, public hangings based on the volume of stadium cheers?
The Instagram post is certainly on her account, and I’m told by two sources who speak Finnish that this is indeed what she’s saying.

Pro-government Twitter trolls are trying to spread all sorts of ridiculous lies about the case & about our work here, so it won’t hurt to remind people of the facts. 1/
The Israeli government revoked Omar’s work visa on the asserted grounds that his advocacy violated a 2017 law barring entry to those who advocate a boycott of Israel.

But neither Human Rights Watch, nor Shakir as its representative, has ever called for a boycott of Israel. 2/
Human Rights Watch has urged businesses to stop operating in illegal settlements as part of their global duty to avoid complicity in human rights abuses – just as it calls on businesses to comply with this duty in many other countries. 3/

.@InternetSociety (ISOC) is selling off @PIRegistry, the non-profit with a monopoly to award .ORG domains, to a venture capital firm. The proceeds from the sale will fund an endowment to sustain ISOC's work, we're told. That sounds admirable. But what does ISOC do? 1/ #SaveDotOrg
The answer, there, is very little. Take a look over the non-profit's 990 from last year. The @InternetSociety had revenue of $56,762,624. ISOC then spent $39,322,169 on salaries, staff travel, office space, other overhead ... and $5 million on grants and mission-related work 2/
There's not an error with my numbers. ISOC spends just 10% of its budget fulfilling its mission, and 69% on overhead (the rest of their income is banked for a rainy day). I think these numbers are not proper in appearance for a non-profit, and that overhead should be reduced. 3/

In any case you’re not in the best position to query something about facts. From the written media response the other week to some of the things shared on social media, facts are lacking. Instead I see spin. I see that you’re going after NGOs and academics writing about 2/
settled status, as well as the press. A behaviour that is - at best - revealing how rattled you are, at worst an active attempt to censor. You have asked media to provide details about what an NGO says and requested a newspaper to make changes to a perfectly correct article. 3/

Yesterday late afternoon #Russia/n forces took 3 positions in Qusseyr and Juseh and established checkpoints. #Hezbollah, not informed of the Russian presence, came close to these forces and asked their immediate pull out+
Following the direct intervention of President Bashar al-Assad, the Russian force pulled out this morning and avoided any clash with #Hezbollah in the area.

hezbollah maantin and kept all positions. The #Russia/n move was not coordinated.+

#Hezbollah did not...I repeat, did not pull out one single element from the area.

I spoke to people on the ground: The Russian decision was unclear and considered unwelcome by the forces on the ground. Still, many elements of this move are unclear.

I’m someone who uses “lie” a lot for Trump claims. I also think Maggie’s points in this fight are indisputably true.

Two things are true at once: 1) Trump is a serial liar; 2) Reporters can’t call *all* his false claims lies; sometimes he’s confused or ignorant, not intentional.
I think basically all big U.S. papers are too cautious in using “lie” with Trump - it’s warranted in many cases - and that they devote too little coverage to the lies. That doesn’t mean they should call every false claim a lie.
When Trump makes up a fictional phone call from the head of the Boy Scouts, there’s no word for that but lie. When Trump is wrong about policy, he is often clearly lying, but other times he seems ill-informed.
