seems to be a lot of confusion about 'climate tech' investing.

'climate tech' does not mean just energy.

to me, climate tech is anything that helps meaningfully in the effort to decarbonize our global economy

sure, biofuels, nuclear, solar, wind, cement, etc are under the 'climate tech' umbrella.

But so is:
- synthetic meat
- new types of insurance to warranty high risk tech breakthroughs & make them fundable
- platforms to help bigcos monitor/report on/improve their footprints

/2
- following in-home solar playbook for in-home geothermal or other alternative energy
- making buildings more efficient
- software to help cities better manage diverse micromobility transportation fleets

/3
- forecasting/planning for where to build infrastructure, factoring in sea level rise, wildfires, etc
- bundling clean energy purchase financing into home mortgages
- etc etc etc

Some of it is capital light, some capital heavy, some w/ science risk, others without...

You can't generalize, & there is room for several different asset classes.

And we need more of all of it, so you can debate which class is best fit for which kind of innovation, but don't understimate the role traditional venture can play *for certain types of companies*.

hey @albertwenger, @andrewbeebe, @EggersMatt, @schreier, @carolinedclark, @posamentier, @sethbannon, @dumas, @sacca, @mattocko etc, how do you define "climate tech" investing?
