14,000 veterans. Fastest growing group. We have no precedence for the large group of seniors.
2050 majority of the "minority". The future is a more rich Latino population!
Our high schoolers are graduating at 95% and we have the highest population of women with an undergrad degree!
We have a wide achievement gap. Our free and reduced kids are behind at the same rate as CO/ Longmont, and YET We have the largest gap in the state between wealthy and not wealthy kids- but have the highest and most educated parents. Wealthiest group is letting kids struggle.
Teens vaping rises at an alarming rate. 80% of kids agree smoking is bad, but 51% think vaping is fine.
We have a very low vaccination rate. We are just at the baseline for herd immunity so we should see more outbreaks.
We have the highest rate per capita of mental health professionals in the county, but they aren't financially accessible to many of the high risk populations.
GLBTQ teens struggle 2-3 x more with mental health.
Annual cost of childcare for a preschooler is $26,796

Noticing we don't ask about students. Recent college grads are mentioned about feeling welcomed. But do undergrads?
#2020Census $2,300 avg amount of fed funding allocated per CO resident, per year. If we don't get a complete count we will lose significant funding.
We are incredibly generous with hard dollars. But when you adjust for the relative wealth (top 3% of US), we are in the bottom third of CO. Utah has the highest charitable giving. Correlation with religion and donating is big. Our donor bases, if parents give, kids give.#culture
We also don't have the peer pressure to donate like we do on the east coast.
Race relations has a lot of need for CU leadership. Cultural brokers are critical for our community. Do our students want to stay in BoCo? No.
Housing crises. We need CU leadership. Do we even know how many students live in BoCo vs commuting? Hard to know if their addresses are current and if they are really here (still).
Gay and Lesbian people are the most welcomed, 76% and lower down 47% racial and ethnic minorities are welcome. So if you are a queer black person, where do you think you land?
Problems with new questions is that the longitudinal research is lost.
"Nothing about us without us" CF using this motto in where to get voices on issues in Trends report. However examples are that NIMBYs are strong holding the conversations.
