A few thoughts on #Coronavirus:
1) See how USSR regime handled the first weeks following Chernobyl catastrophe (a lot of information about it on Internet) to understand the reactions of the Communist Government during emergencies. #Coronavirus contagion began in December 2019!
2) The nuclear accident at Chernobyl nuclear power plant was completely classified & the communist regime repeated its deceitful mantra: “Nothing threatens peoples’ health.” The whole emergency was handled with deception, cover-ups & control of narrative nsarchive.gwu.edu/briefing-book/…
3) So far we don’t really know what we don’t know about #Coronavirus and the CCP is providing us with numbers we can’t be sure that they reflect the reality on the ground. How long has the contagion been spreading since December before the Government decided to introduce masks?
4) Even though the WHO declared the #Coronavirus to be Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), there are still many unknowns, and human-to-human transmission has occurred outside Wuhan and outside China. who.int/news-room/deta…
5) Fact is that a valuable time has been lost from the beginning of the spread of the contagion until now. The WHO does not recommend any travel or trade restriction (“no limit of movement”), which is detrimental to the interrupting the contagion & the prevention of transmission.
6) #Coronavirus is not to be compared with the flu and has to be considered a systemic risk as the pandemic is an extreme fat-tailed process that is spreading in a non-linear way due to unprecedented interconnectedness of the #GlobalSystem. See @nntaleb/@yaneerbaryam/@normonics.
7)As @nntaleb rightly points out, what do you think it’s more likely to be the case if we learn that suddenly 2 million people have died of: a) Influenza that we know how to deal with & tackle w/ vaccines; or b) a virus such as the #Coronavirus we still know very little about.
8) Economic impact: Markets haven’t realized long-term disruptions of global supply chains & real stress on globalized networks of finance, trade, economy, energy as well as flows of goods, people and services yet. China constitutes 17% of global outcome meanwhile. #GlobalSystem
