Cons are going mental.

Please promote the hell out of these changes to everyone you know. It’s the answer to a demand for fact based information & suppression of disinformation.

This is marvellous news. This needs to be supported by the majority of Canadians loud and clear. No more junk internet news sites polluting the information we require to stay informed.

A regulated internet.

We MUST give govt our support for this initiative.

A five year contract with CBC and funding to operate without the requirement for advertising means the CBC no longer has to compete with private news sources and can focus on investigative reporting.

With that in place, CTV and Global disinformation will become obvious.

It means Vassy and Rosie would need to address issues from a neutral position, not from a right of centre stance. It might even see them follow Evan Solomon elsewhere.

You want real facts and truth for newscasts, support this legislation. Loud and clear.

You want Spencer Fernando, Post Millennial and True North to receive pushback and potential loss of licence to operate as news vs entertainment if they keep pushing half truths and disinformation on the public, support this legislation loud and clear.

You want Ezra Levant and his obnoxious cabal of miscreants, like Keean Bexte, regulated and stopped from harassing others and promoting hate, support this legislation loud and clear.

If you have a vested interest in reading, listening to and watching actual news in every medium available, including from foreign sources, then support this legislation loud and clear.

By loud and clear I mean two things.

1. Spread the word on every medium you inhabit that the government is attempting to return facts and truth to Canadian media.

2. Write a snail mail AND email letter providing your support and commendation to Canadian Heritage Minister for addressing this crucial piece of legislation that will hopefully restore some balance to the news landscape and make disinformation far easier to identify.

Do it now, do it often and send multiple letters.

We NEED the government to know this is a public demand and publicly supported. If you have a LPC, Bloc or NDP MP, write them too. Every progressive should (should being the reasonable position) support this legislation.

I’m afraid CPC MP’s are hell bent on blocking this legislation, because it removes bias from the media which is currently in their favour.

This would help reverse the changes to the Broadcasting Act and media that Harper implemented in 2011-2012.

I’d you want a 4th estate that keeps you informed and uses facts not conjecture from op eds, support this legislation loud and clear.

If you see potential problems, point them out to government. Discuss this issue regularly on twitter and other mediums.

This is the legislation that can turn everything around. With diminished capacity to use disinformation on MSM platforms and a regulated internet, the ability to confuse and muddy the water becomes much harder for cons.

Now is the time to get behind the government and support this legislation and initiative.

Democracy requires a well informed and educated public in order to function properly. This legislation is an attempt to reestablish a pillar of democracy: An objective fact based Media.

Now is the time to speak up and have your voice heard!

Because the far right has already started a campaign to defeat this legislation before its ever tabled.

Some things the far right is good at is letter writing and banding together to defeat legislation that regulates their baser instincts and surreptitious undermining of democracy.

But look, we have resistance from the left as well. If you are far left and you don’t support removal of disinformation, please explain how you call yourself a progressive and look in the mirror everyday.

Clearlu idenrify what form of govt you want, because it is NOT democracy.

If you see problems, identify them. Do not sweep this legislation to the side. We need to band together if we want to preserve MSM as a source of reliable information.

Write your letters now and send them ASAP. We outnumber Cons 3:1.

If you want to do something to support and preserve Canadian democracy, do this. And do it now!

Oh, and by the way, European Union approved something similar in March 2019. Currently every EU nation is in process of incorporating these laws into their national legal framework. It’s to be completed 2021.

If EU and millions of citizens can get the internet regulated, so can Canada.

If several European Nations can agree to regulate the internet to protect citizens, then so can Canada.

Don’t let anyone tell you regulating the internet and hate speech is impossible and unconstitutional.

It’s already done in most western democracies in Europe.

We aren’t forging a path. We are following down an established path towards democracy.
