Tonight I’m in Philadelphia at a rally for Mike Bloomberg at the National Constitution Center ...
... and I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve been to a presidential rally that was a catered affair
I found describe the crowd here as “White boomer”
This is the food offering in the press file
Also there’s an open bar ... at a political rally. It’s a good thing everyone here is over the age of 60 or else things would really get lit
Also I might have found the most thankless job in Democratic politics ... DJ at a Mike Bloomberg rally
This is the Gourmet Flatbread Station
For those who prefer a cheesesteak
One woman who is not a Bernie Sanders fan “he’d be good for leader of Scandinavia.”

Lot of folks I’ve spoken to here we’re backing Biden or Warren but they are worried about each’s electability
This woman (I didn’t catch her name) lost her son to gun violence. Bloomberg’s advocacy on the gun issue is something that many people here have mentioned as reason to support him for POTUS
It’s not an exaggeration to say that more people of color have spoken tonight at this event than are in the audience
They have a laser show
“People ask me, ‘do you really want an election between two New York billionaires? And i say, who’s the other one?’”
Bloomberg promises that if he’s president there will be no tweeting from the Oval Office.
If there is one overarching comment from those in attendance tonight it is that they see Bloomberg as the type of candidate who can beat Trump.

Grain of salt, since this is the furthest thing from a progressive crowd.
But as one black woman said to me "I can't have four more years of Donald Trump" and that alone has her thinking about Bloomberg.
I was also struck by the fact that rather than be bothered by Bloomberg spending hundreds of millions ... many people see it as an asset. He can go toe-to-toe with Trump.
My understanding is that there were 2,000 people here tonight, which for a Tuesday night in a state that isn't holding its primary until April is pretty damn impressive.
Actually 2,000 is the campaign's estimate. There were a lot of people here. I'm not sure it was 2,000. But it wasn't a small crowd.
