..I am surprised to find that in this book of hers, she puts the entire of blame of female infanticide and demeaning status of Muslim Women in India during Medieval periods, on some mistranslated (or rather mistransliterated) Vedic verses such as Atharva Ved 6/11/3....
..correct meaning of which is attached in the primary tweet of this thread. Disappointing to see that the very academicians who should be propagating the correct meaning of our ancient knowledge, are doing exactly the opposite, being part of propaganda against Sanatan Hinduism
Let me clarify this to all feminists out there, especially Hindus. Please be assured that there is nothing misogynistic or derogatory against women in any of the Vedas.
Most of the verses in Vedas have been mistranslated in the process of transliteration by so called Western/Islamic experts who have never gone through the rigours of learning advanced Sanskrit & have hardly lived a life of a Yogi to understand the real meaning of these verses.
1)Atharva Ved 6/11/3 has been grossly mistranslated as “Almighty God, you have created this womb. Women may be born somewhere else but sons should be born from this womb” ...
.... Correct translation: “By Grace of Ishwar, woman is able to have a womb and nurture the child therein. May the woman have a son if she desires and planned so otherwise she may have a girl.”
Thus, it is evident that if couple has planned for a boy, may boy be born else girl be born.Here ‘Anyatra’ has been mistranslated as ‘Elsewhere’ instead of ‘else or otherwise’.
There are Vedic ways of increasing chances of procreating either a boy or girl. There is no bias in favour of boys.
2) Atharva Ved 2/3/23 again has been mistranslated as “O Husband protect the son to be born. Do not make him a women”
Correct translation: “Protect the child in womb from infections and diseases. Be it a girl or boy, may it not be troubled.”
Correct translation: “Protect the child in womb from infections and diseases. Be it a girl or boy, may it not be troubled.”
Here, “Ma Pumansam Striyam Kran” is mistranslated translated as “Do not make boy in womb into a girl”. But is it biologically or medically possible ? Actual meaning is “Do not trouble male or female child”.
3) Rig Ved 8/33/17 again is mistranslated as : ’
”Lord Indra himself has said that women has very little intelligence. She cannot be taught”
Correct translation: Do not try to rule over the thought process of woman. She can think very fast and in multiple dimensions.

What translators have done is to distort ‘Ashasyam’ to mean ‘cannot be taught’ while it means ‘cannot be ruled’ . Then they translated ‘Raghum’ to mean ‘little’ while it actually means ‘agile’ or ‘able to move rapidly in variety of locations’ or ‘dynamic’.
