These ghouls are weeping because, thanks to the new laws, it will no longer cost $10,000 in fees, advance rent and deposits every time you are forced to move
So many New Yorkers have been made homeless or bankrupted because a landlord wouldn't renew their lease, in favor of a tenant who can pay more, and they couldn't come up with the thousands of dollars required to get a new place.

In NYC, landlords prefer to kick out tenants at the end of each year or two in order to jack up the rent. In between the broker's fees, and several months security deposit (seldom returned) this was thousands of dollars each year sucked out of tenants bank accounts for nothing
