Here's the full story of the new import/export controls coming in after the transition period, from Gov.uk i.e. the official Government website... Seems to have shut the Leavers up to a large extent - getting far less pushback than usual.

Basically, the new plan introduces additional red tape, costs and complexity in the guise of "fairness". Instead of goods to/from the EU getting "special" treatment (Single Market/Customs Union) they'll be subject to the same battery of hassle as goods to/from rest of the world.
It's the equivalent of "eliminating" inequality by lowering everyone's pay to match the lowest-paid member of society.
