If you stare very hard at the UK on the first map for a minute, then glance at the second one, you can just about make out where we should be, but aren't any more. That faint afterimage is a perfect metaphor for the transition period.
And then consider how far we have to go to trade with non-EU countries instead of the EU. (The glib Brexiter plan for solving all our ills.) Costs, journey times and environmental damage will all skyrocket.
