After death of #veersavarkar , India Gandhi had praised his work & issued a stamp in his memory. In 1981, she also donated Rs 11k (Today's 5 lacs) to #savarkar smarak in Mumbai. Many Marathi Socialist n Leftist intellectuals started attacking Savarkar after his death.
But, their attacks were restricted to 'Reformist', 'Modern' Savarkar who talked of abandoning Caste n Varna system, breaking 7 shackles of Hinduism, etc. They called it all falsehood & used to portray Savarkar as some Orthodox & Manuvadi having belief in Caste system.
They used to attack Savarkar's Hindutva n criticise it. But, nobody called him 'Mafiveer' & accused him of being involved in Gandhi Assassination plot. Even his critics respected 'Swatantryaveer' Savarkar who suffered inhumane punishment in Andaman Cellular Jail.
Many Dalit leaders also respected his work as a Freedom fighter though they disagreed with his Hindutva. So, what happened suddenly? It all started after NDA govt led by Vajapayee started recognising Savarkar n bringing him in Mainstream national narrative. When L.K. Advaniji....
...went to Andaman, renamed Port Blair airport as 'Veer Savarkar Airport' n added his portrait in Parliament hall. Advaniji got Savarkar's poetry written on the walls of Cellular Jail. Then suddenly, Savarkar became a national villain. Entire Left wing started attacking him.
Entire gang of Adv A.G. Noorani, Samshul Islam, Teesta etc started writing against him. After UPA came to power in 2004, Manishankar Iyer went to Andaman, removed that poetry of savarkar n wrote Gandhiji's message on wall of Cellular Jail. He insulted #Savarkar in a cruel way.
But, we RWs never tried to challenge the allegation of being involved in Gandhi Assassination plot. That is mainly because many of us consider Godse as a Hero n we think he did right thing. So, when LWs falsely involve #Savarkar in Gandhi Assassination plot, we feel proud of it.
Irrespective of ones opinion of Godse, this shaming of Savarkar must stop. We, RWs should understand the truth and counter it with facts. #Savarkar had nothing to do with Godse. Infact, Godse has criticised him on many occasions. All those things came up before Sessions court..
..which Acquitted Savarkar as 'Not Guilty' against whom Nehru Govt didn't even appeal to High Court. And logically u tell me, if Savarkar really intended to assassinate Gandhi, why would he pick Godse n Apte for that? Gandhiji rejected security n he used to roam everywhere...
Without security. Many of the displaced refugees were angry with him - Hindus as well as Muslims. He could have picked anyone of them to assassinate Gandhi who had no past links with savarkar. Why would he chose Godse, who was member of Hindu Mahasabha n had past links with him?
Getting involved in Gandhi Assassination plot in autumn years of life means losing respect in the eyes of people n losing all the credibility earned during fight for freedom n as well virtually ending Hindu Mahasabha's future. Why would a person like Savarkar do it?
And do u know on what basis #Savarkar was involved in Gandhi Assassination plot by Nehru Govt? It was on the basis of deposition of a turned approver. Means what? A person named Mr. Badge who supplied Weapons to Godse was pardoned by govt in return for telling entire truth.
He didn't get any punishment ad he was pardoned. Anyone can give false deposition as Police or govt want him to in return for pardon. He was also offered govt job n pension by govt. It's easily possible to lure one of the accused n turn him against another in return for pardon.
That's why law requires other authentic evidences to corroborate deposition of such turned approvers. In Savarkar's case, nobody could produce authentic evidences to corroborate Mr. Badges deposition. Some witnesses were produced n what they said couldn't prove anything.
Later on in 1975, Mr. Badge himself agreed in a conversation with a writer that He was forced by Police to give false deposition in return for pardon and a police job with pension. Nobody challenged it. What it means? It was political conspiracy to involve Savarkar in it.
So, my sincere request to all RWs that don't fall into the trap of LWs who wants to prove that Savarkar was mastermind behind Gandhi Assassination plot. If one wants to Glorify Godse, then do it independently. Atleast don't involve Savarkar with it because he wasn't involved.
