I've slightly modified the @vest_team's IA Dem caucus precinct map to map the IA Republican caucus results by precinct. First, the overall winner map. Trump won 97.1% of the vote. Not surprisingly, he won almost everywhere. He won all the votes in the darkest red precincts.

@vest_team Next, a map of Trump's precinct performance relative to his statewide 97.1%. Trump overperformed that 97.1% in the pink precinct and underfperformed in the largely urban/suburban blue precincts - though there are a handful of blue rural precincts in Siouxland (NW corner).

@vest_team The two minor candidates, Weld and Walsh, only won votes in a handful of precincts. Here's William Weld's heatmap (3% steps up to 42%). Looks like a largely suburban phenomenon.

And Walsh's heatmap - it looks a lot like Weld's.

@vest_team Error note: Walsh's percentage was 1.1, not 11.

The dark grey precincts in Mitchell County might be due to the IA Republicans' data using the old precincts for results, which differs from @vest_team and what the Iowa Dems reported in the county. Consider Mitchell County (north central of the map) experimental.

@vest_team It also could be that nobody actually caucused in those precincts. I honestly don't know.

@vest_team As many have noted, I missed the decimal place in the Walsh percent - it should be 1.1%, not 11%. I also had the wrong color for Weld & Other - Weld is orange and Other purple. Here are the corrected maps:

@vest_team Ignore the TBD in the Main Menu - that's for future use. Clicking on Menu will open up the menu to change the map - there are maps of the Trump, Weld, Walsh and Other PCT, and the Trump Precinct PCT - Statewide PCT hidden therein.

@vest_team Option allows you to change the opacity (default: 75%), color step (default 5 points on the main map & 10 on the candidate maps), start value (value of the first step colored - default 50% on the main map & 0% on the others) & min show (whites out smaller precincts by votes cast)
