The BBC’s funding is guaranteed until 2027. If the rest of the story is true, would like to know how the government intends to tell the BBC what to do, what channels to close and the rest, if it also intends to privatise it.
In the meantime, with regards to slightly more pressing matters, with 10 months to go til the end of transition, I’m still awaiting an answer to this.
Though I don’t doubt the will to change the BBC is there among in No 10 alongside other institutions of power which they don’t much like (eg judiciary) in a week the govt lost its Chancellor, they clearly have an ulterior motive in briefing this story now.
Lots of this to come in the year ahead as things get tougher to distract from hard questions. Such as, when is the budget going to be?
