1. Trump has pushed DOJ to ease pressure on Reza Zarrab, the Turkish-Iranian gold trader at the center of the Halkbank scheme.

2. Erdogan runs Halkbank and Zarrab testified Erdogan had personally approved the bank’s participation in the scheme.
3. Trump "wants to be helpful within the limits of his power" in the "case involving the Turkish bank," according to a transcript of a call Lindsey Graham had w a Russian prankster impersonating Turkey's minister of defense in August.
NOTE: Trump has a history of acting favorably to Turkey following private convos w Erdogan.

Most recently, a phone call prior to the U.S. withdrawal from N. Syria remains shrouded in secrecy.
"Halkbank is at the center of the ongoing scandal surrounding President Trump, Rudy Giuliani and President Erdogan," Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore.

"They all appear to have been working toward the same goal of preventing criminal prosecution of the bank."

A few points:

(THREAD)
1.Sanders released a recent list of ways to fund his programs
2. It includes raising taxes to ab 50% marginal rate on middle class, in addition to all wealth, corporate, inequality taxes (adding it up)
3. Even AFTER this, there's a $20 trillion shortfall.
4. Choices: Issue more debt than totaling our entire history or massive tax increases
5. What's it mean for middle class? Ex: a family earning $80K would pay 60% marginal rate.
6. Lower premiums, savings for companies would all = big savings for the m.c., Sanders camp says.
7. He is right single payer is more efficient, savings from cutting out sig admin costs etc. and U.S. spending way more on health care than other nations.
8. BUT the countries he cites as a model have big VAT (sales taxes) & much higher income tax rates.

Here’s 102-year-old Jerry Emmett, who was six years old when women earned the right to vote.

She’d flown to Philly to see Clinton become the first female nominee in 2016.
