Biden: Got tenure in 1982 when someone just handed it to you in the hallway AND HE THINKS THAT'S A FUNNY STORY

Bernie: the administration hates him for organizing with the custodial staff but his grad students print his lectures as chapbooks, making him a small moral fortune
Pete: was on the "golf team" at a school that didn't have one but you had to hire him because he went to Harvard. And he was the diversity hire.

Warren: Has been stuck at associate forEVER because of all the mentorship she does that doesn't count on her evals
Tom: A partner hire. We don't even know what his degree is in.

Amy: Writes scathing letters to the editor of the school paper about the faculty dining room getting a bit loose with the card key access. Students belong in student dining!
Bloomberg: the administrator who pretends to teach a class once a decade to "keep his hands on the heart of the university" but the course is mandatory and no one likes it

I had student meetings today and I am emotional. That's my content warning.

Every year that passes, it is more likely that the black women on campus - any campus where I am - will find me. I love it.
I've also noticed a trend to our conversations. With some generalizations to protect the innocent, here that convo goes:
First and foremost, you. are. not. crazy. The thing that professor said to you? It happened. The implication your colleague made about you? It was said. That rule that seems to be suspiciously applied? Yep, it's a thing.

Like many people, I can’t stop thinking about this story. I can’t recall how many times a bank has treated me like a criminal. The friction of just daily living while black is overwhelming
I believe that burn-out and anxiety are real traumas for all kinds of people trying live in a complex society. But when black people say we are overwhelmed at the thought of a phone call or a routine consumer interaction? We are talking about a distinct degree of exhaustion.
Can’t get the gas station cashier to turn on the pump. Can’t get the barista to give you five minutes before you buy coffee. Can’t get on the train without a visible stub in your hand. Can’t deposit a check without an independent third party verification.

This was also my point in an essay in THICK where I attend a Trump rally. He isn’t good rhetorically but he is great at amplifying audience feedback in real time. That’s what they’re there for - the spectacle. And MSM cannot process that. Or they doing the same performance
If you think of these rallies as revivals, you get closer to understanding and neutralizing them. It’s just Billy Graham with a different accent and much lower price of admission.
He never repeats a line that gets booed by his audience. He isn’t stupid. He is craven. He has plenty of self control when it comes to satisfying his symbiotic relationship with a live audience. He will give them anything they want.

I wake up again to the erasure of #Bernie's POC and women supporters, and to the fiction that his voters are more toxic than those of other candidates.

When @leeladaou and I began supporting him, the venom we got from his haters was ugly.

@leeladaou Every personal attack we got in 2016 from #Bernie voters who we argued with in 2016 was replicated in 2019 by his opponents.

They mobbed and harassed us, impugned our motives and character with the EXACT same intensity as those they claim are "bros."

With one big difference...
@leeladaou When we reached out to #NotMeUs with an olive branch it was more than reciprocated.

The so-called "bros" we bitterly argued with in 2016 embraced us with open arms.

#Bernie's movement is principled and truly diverse. Erasing them all as "raging white males" is a travesty.

#Biden has always been a disastrous candidate for women and thus far is performing badly as ever.
Biden's rollout in majority black Philly was small, majority suburban and male.
Biden has zero policy, but much baggage.
Biden is NOT our future.
The future is female.
I know no one who is pro-Biden.
Not my MIL who rolls her eyes over Biden but likes Warren nor a single other family member, friend, colleague or neighbor, whether boomer, gen x or millennial.
Polling has been limited and 67% say they are still looking while Biden's numbers drop.
This long, well-researched piece on Biden by @rtraister is the story of Biden & women. It clarifies why he's not the choice for an electorate that has moved left & younger. The excitement is for the women & younger men. Debates will shift the narrative.

Critical point here is that the MSM is claiming that #Sanders "came within a handful of votes" of #HillaryClinton, when he lost in a landslide of 4M votes, 1k pledged delegates (not SDs) and a dozen states.

This false narrative harms #Sanders--it's meant to highlight how badly he's doing in 2020 and prop up #Biden. But Sanders is actually doing better than in 2016. There are just more players. And Biden is being replaced by a younger centrist, #Buttigieg.
