I might be missing something, but if we have a genome sequenced, primers available online, why are there not microarray /FISH assays that are at every international airport before you are allowed to pass security?

I mean, there are obviously issues with logistics, but you could also run all the samples for a single flight together before boarding/takeoff.

Everybody gets a piece of gum to chew, deposits it into receptacle, pcr run in Situ, FISH/etc.

Positive result -> Indiv screened.
That would help to prevent the spread by indiv who are asymptomatic but still shedding.

This is really something every airport should have had on site for, like, ~~20 years.
In reality, cost for indiv samples outside lab setup would be, what, <$15?

And If everybody’s dna gets jumbled together, there is less risk of data being misused for lack of identifiability.
