The article does what left-wingers frequently accuse the right of doing: fitting newcomers into "good immigrant, bad immigrant" categories.
In this case, the "bad immigrants" are Ugandan Asians, who were apparently racist, worked for imperialists and came here rich.

A lot of left-wing people *cannot fathom* that Asians can also be Tories.

This idea that Asian (or black) Britons should only be left-wing and if they're right-wing they are basically 'sellouts' or have something wrong with them... is bonkers.

Why are there so many Ugandan Asians in the Labour party?
Could be because:
1) They're more middle-class.
2) They may be socially conservative (most Asians are!)
3) Tories are better at promoting talent (in my experience, Labour promotes by factions, not talent)

Lastly, I'm no fan of Priti Patel (especially).

Eesh! In this tweet I meant to ask why are there so many Ugandan Asians in the *Conservative* party, not Labour.

I was a bit frustrated with the broader debate. Don't assume she is being racist or using slurs. She definitely isn't. She's gotten some awful trolling (esp from Hindutva accounts).😠
