Trump INSTEAD crippled our defenses to route funds to his inane political priorities.
Just *2 weeks ago* he proposed a 19% CUT to the CDC, incl 10% to “public health scientific services,” 3% to “public health preparedness and response” programs and ~7% to global health programs.

Trump fired Tim Ziemer, Head of Global Health Security at the NSC (who had previously coordinated the President’s Malaria Initiative, which reduced global malaria deaths by 40%) and never filled that role. He then ordered the NSC’s *entire* global health security unit shut down.
And then he appointed Pence, who as governor of Indiana enabled the worst HIV outbreak in state history because of his own gross mismanagement, to oversee the US response to what is already the worst global pandemic in more than a century.

But worst of all is the WH’s attempts to gaslight us into thinking that everything is fine or even that it’s all a hoax, because they’d rather lie to our faces than risk endangering their precious stock market, which is the *only* thing propping up Trump’s re-election hopes.
So when you see the market tanking, know that it’s not happening in a vacuum. It’s the result of poor preparedness and ongoing mismanagement and a president who used our tax dollars not to keep us safe, but on priorities that would serve as better applause lines at his rallies.
