I notice patterns. I am a writer, so most of the patterns I notice in words, especially the written word - be it on paper or on the internet.

In the past two days, the words the UCP are using are interesting to say the least...

They continue to use job creation and #JobCreators to mean large corporations in the O&G fields. But I think they can see that no one is really buying that line anymore.

They use words to evoke fear and othering & an US vs THEM mentality.

"those who hold our economy HOSTAGE" "lawless and dangerous" "urban green left zealots"

Is it truly shocking that we see the kind of hate and violence we have seen this week with certain STICKERS? #ABLEG

In the Legislature on Thursday when #ABBudget2020 was tabled, they mentioned Extinction Rebellion 15 TIMES. (My condolences to whoever has that one in the Budget Bingo drinking game!)

What I find MOST interesting is that I have seen more than one tweet from different ministers calling people in the province "millionaires". With the assumption that they then don't deserve public services?

@rebeccakschulz @MattWolfAB @UCPCaucus This language is simply more othering of "the severely normal Albertan" from those RICH folks (which is a bit weird, since Kenney et al. seem to have many of the latter and don't mind their money when it suits their needs and campaign coffers??)

@rebeccakschulz @MattWolfAB @UCPCaucus Another one I keep going back to is the "but what about the Indigenous people" hand wringing the UCP is doing - telling us they need these pipelines and mines to get them out of the deep, deep poverty & addiction cycles that plague our FN people.
