BREAKING: A formal complaint about Priti Patel's conduct was made when she was Employment Minister at Department for Work and Pensions,@BBCNews has been told. Complaint is believed to have been made by a member of her private office...
@BBCNews Patel was Employment Minister from May 2015-July 2016. Her spokesman said she was "not aware" of the complaint.
Govt did not deny it but said it would not comment on personnel issues.
@BBCNews Whitehall insider with knowledge of her time at DWP said she'd created a "hostile and unhappy" environment for civil servants there by questioning their capability and undermining their performance. "I felt very sorry for people in her private office - they felt bullied."
@BBCNews Priti Patel's allies deny claims that she has bullied staff though they have acknowledged that the Home Secretary can be "demanding". A source from her time at DWP said: "I wouldn't describe her as a bully. She was difficult and not afraid to say when she was unhappy."
