Propane Jane: Chris Matthews is out! In a lot of ways, he does have insightful analysis on history. He has "institutional memory" & he brought that to the table at MSNBC. Having said that, he's an older white man from another time & place.

Jane: Not knowing what it means when we say, "It's a black thing, you wouldn't understand" means it's a privilege not to understand what it's like to be black.

@docrocktex26 Propane Jane: We have to stop having laws in place that disenfranchise entire demographics of our population. We need to stop having laws that allow police officers to treat black people differently from white,like stop & frisk,&get away w/ it.

@docrocktex26 Jane: All of this goes into the saying, "It's a black thing; you wouldn't understand it." I can climb the highest mountain, I can be a medical doctor, but if I get pulled over, the cop can shoot me b/c he doesn't like the way I talk to him...& get away with it.

@docrocktex26 Propane Jane: White people have the privilege of not knowing what it's like to be black. Black voters remember that Joe Biden helped w/ the crime bill that increased the # of cops. There were gangs killing us; drivebys; we needed more cops.

@docrocktex26 Propane Jane: We have a context for stop & frisk. The idea that the Bernie campaign would swoop in & take the mantle of civil rights...Biden was with our first President. We recognize that Obama's was a significant presidency & that he'd be obstructed at every turn

@docrocktex26 Propane Jane: There's a reason why it is well known among black people why they make the decisions in voting booths that they do. Those voters are making their choices w/ a different set of reasons b/c of institutional memory; they connect past to present.

@docrocktex26 Propane Jane: Black voters are filling in the gaps between Bernie marching 50 years ago & what black voters have seen from him in the last 52 years, & it wasn't a continued commitment to civil rights causes.
