people to observe, report, & organize on human rights in their own country. Chinese & Uyghurs need outside orgs like @ASPI_org to make reports like the one linked below because if any NGO in China did the work they'd promptly be shuttered & jailed.
In his criticism, Shaun mentions US prison labor & rights of black Americans. While systematic discrimination persists, orgs like BLM & NAACP conduct research, organize, protest, & sue.

Human rights abuses occur everywhere. But when a regime suffocates civil society, often only those abroad can maintain any semblance of accountability without a high risk of retribution.
